A Fun Afternoon with a Friend

I had such a fun afternoon with a dear craft friend (and sometimes instructor), Cheryl, last Tuesday.  We poked around a local craft store and purchased some great new toys (we REALLY NEEDED - *wink*).  One of the new toys we both got was this great new Small Madison Window die from Memory Box.

This card was made for my beautiful niece, Emily's birthday on Tuesday.  I wanted it to look vintage and CAS and I think I achieved what I was going for.  Do you see the covered button I used for the flower center?  That's from Emily's grandmother's old button collection for an additional little treasure on the card.

The products I used, in addition to the Memory Box die, for this card were Gina K Designs Pure Luxury 120 weight white for a base layer.  Core'dinations paper which I ran through my die machine with a CB folder and then lightly sanded to get that distressed look.  I then tore the edge and layered it against another torn paper from Basic Grey's "Little Black Dress" 6x6 pad.  The stamped images are from the GKD, StampTV Set "Vintage Chic", loved the silhouette image for this card.  The sentiment was stamped on Spellbinder Labels 22 and then cut and placed behind the window frame.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you're all ready for the holidays!  I'm way behind.....so I'm off to get some catching up done.

TJ Combo Fun

I'm so excited!  A technique I contributed to Technique Junkies Newsletter was published in the recent December/January issue.  You may recall this card I posted a few posts back in August

...some of you asked me how I made the background, but I couldn't tell you because I'd emailed Pat Huntoon, Editor of Technique Junkies describing how I created the background and asking if she would be interested in testing the technique for publishing in the TJ newsletter.

Low and behold, I got my December/January newsletter the other day and there was my technique entitled "Texture Transfer Tutorial".  I was over the moon excited.  Thank you, Pat!!!

If you don't subscribe to Technique Junkies and you like techniques in card making, you might want to check it out.  It's well worth the cost of the subscription and Pat also offers additional CD's  to purchase of past published techniques as well as CD's for 3D projects, motion cards and fancy fold cards.  Great Christmas gifts BTW.

I thought I would create this card using the Texture Transfer Technique and also use another fabulous technique in the Dec/Jan Newsletter called "Picture Perfect" - you can see it illustrated in the sentiment area of this card.  I absolutely LOVED how this came out.  What a fabulous technique!!!

For this card I used CS by GKD Pure Luxury "All Spruced Up", "Kraft" and White.  The bg flourish tree stamp is from Hero Arts and is stamped with DI "Forest Moss" Ink.  For the "Textured Transfer" layer I used the new holiday collection of TH DI.  Edging is MS punch, and embossed with SU ef.  The sentiment stamp is from GKD "Very Merry Christmas", illustrated by Theresa Momber.

This has been a lengthy post, and I thank you spending your time here.

Hugs,

Cheri
